Adastra Hall

The community space in the heart of Hassocks

meetings, courses, dances, parties, weddings, events – and much, much more

Adastra Hall is set in the beautiful Adastra Park, Hassocks and is very near Hassocks village and shops and about ten minutes walk from Hassocks Station. It is an attractive convenient and well equipped hall – basically an ideal venue for all types of occasion and activity for people of all ages including weddings, dinners, film shows, lunches, meetings, coffee mornings, concerts, exercise classes, and exhibitions. As well as acting as a focus for all sorts of village activities, it also attracts events from much further afield because of the excellent facilities on offer.

Adastra Hall actually has 3 spaces that can be hired individually or together and suit many different purposes: The MAIN HALL, the GREEN ROOM, and the COMMITTEE ROOM.

The total building capacity is 240 (including entertainers caterers, helpers etc).  For a seated function at tables such as a dinner the capacity is set at 130. There is a sprung wooden floor which is ideal for dancing.   The hall has a large stage and Green Room which can be used for a dressing room or an all purpose room.   This room has a small kitchen and unisex toilet.    The Committee room is used for small events as well as Committee meetings seating sixteen people.

The hall is fully licenced with Mid Sussex District Council until 11pm. The hall pays both PPL and PRS licence fees for the benefits of it’s hirers.

The Hall holds Table Tennis on Monday and Thursday afternoons – also Monday evening in the Green Room. Short mat bowls takes place every Tuesday morning and afternoon. All of these are on a ‘just drop in’ basis as they are not official clubs with no annual subscription payable.   There is no commitment to attend every week – just whenever you feel like it.

The building is equipped with a modern fitted kitchen, which includes a microwave oven, dishwasher, large and small refrigerators, a large freezer, large oven and bain marie, kettles and water urns.  There are electronic shutters – allowing serving in to either the main hall and the other into the foyer.

The building has the benefit of full central heating and free wifi throughout. Ladies, gents and disabled toilets are situated within the foyer area, and the green room has separate toilet facilities and a separate, small kitchen. There is easy access for wheelchair users via the front entrance to access the main hall, kitchen and toilets, and separately in to the green room.

There is a free car park adjacent to the hall, 2 further free car parks in Adastra Park (accessed from Orchard Lane) and plenty of free on-street car parking in Keymer Road.
